At the beginning of this year, German investigators took the lead in cracking the largest illegal transaction to date on the dark web. Recently, Europol has once again successfully cracked down on dark web suppliers and buyers.

Europol stated that the large-scale operation, code-named Dark HunTOR, was coordinated by the police from multiple countries. The participating countries include the United States, Australia, Bulgaria, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Switzerland and the United Kingdom.

A total of 150 suspects have been arrested so far. Most of the suspects (65) were arrested in the United States, followed by Germany (47) and the United Kingdom (24), Italy and the Netherlands each arrested 4 people. Many of the arrested suspects were listed as “high-value targets” by Europol.

In addition, the police also seized 234 kilograms of drugs and 45 guns, and seized more than 26 million euros in cash and virtual currency. The seized drugs included 152 kilograms of amphetamine, 27 kilograms of opiates and more than 25,000 ecstasy pills.
