As a form of protest, Fenerbahçe left the field one minute into the classic game against Galatasaray. Before that, the team had already selected the under-19 squad for the match, preserving the main team, and handed a goal to the opponent, scored by Icardi in the first play of the match. ENTENDA O PROTEST DO FENERBAHÇE
In litigation with the Turkish Football Federation (TFF) following the developments in pitched battle that took place in the duel against Tranzonspor, Fenerbahçe requested the postponement of the Super Cup with the justification that they would like to better prepare for the duel against Olympiacos, from Greece, in the Conference League. Furthermore, the club’s management requested the presence of a foreign referee in the classic.
The TFF, however, not only maintained the date of the decision but also selected Volkan Bayarslan, a Turkish referee, for the match. In response to the entity’s decision, Fenerbahçe issued a statement in which they stated that they would select the under-19 team for the game (which actually happened).

This same statement already raised the possibility that the team would end the game before the 90 minutes. Initially, it was thought that the players would force three expulsions and leave the pitch as there were not enough players to enter the field.
The classic between Fenerbahçe and Galatasaray was originally scheduled for December 2023, in Saudi Arabia, but was postponed at the last minute thanks to a boycott by players from both teams. This is because there was a restriction on the display of Turkish symbols in the Asian country. The match was then rescheduled for April 7th.
