This Friday, firefighters continue trying to cool down the structure of the building that burned in the city of Valencia, Spain, in which at least 4 people died and 14 are missing, a figure that could vary when access is gained to its interior.

The Valencian authorities offered data on what happened in the incident, which occurred on Thursday, in the Campanar neighborhood, in which 15 people were injured, of whom only six remain hospitalized – five of them firefighters – without endangering the lives of none.

The President of the Spanish Government, Pedro Sánchez, will travel to Valencia this Friday to inquire about details of the fire and learn about the tasks being carried out on the ground.

For her part, the mayor of Valencia, María José Catalá, spoke in X: “There are no words that describe the enormous pain that the city of Valencia is feeling right now.” She even declared three days of official mourning in the city. “All our support and deepest condolences to the families and friends of the victims,” ​​she added.

“We had not experienced a similar tragedy and today (Friday) we are going to have a very difficult day,” Catalá said at a press conference.

The four deceased have not yet been identified and it is being studied when the interior of the building can be accessed, for which it is flying over with drones and its stability is being ensured with cranes.

The Police are taking a count of all the residents and so far have put the missing persons at 14, although it will be when the interior of the structure can be accessed that the search for bodies by the firefighters and the Military Emergency Unit will begin.

The authorities have established two care points, one to care for relatives of people who have not been located, with a social team and a team of psychologists, and another for those who have lost everything.

Mayor María José Catalá explained that there are 36 residents of the building staying in a hotel, and that work is already underway to provide a solution to all those affected during the coming months, so that they do not have “not a minute of uncertainty.”

Catalá thanked the firefighters for their work, who in some cases risked their lives to rescue neighbors, and highlighted that companies and citizens “have dedicated themselves” to helping those affected.

Authorities from other parts of Spain have expressed their grief and support for Valencia for this tragic event.
