Fire, Skiptvet | Grass fire in Skiptvet – several households lost power

Several households were without electricity on Sunday afternoon in Skiptvet.

– We had a power outage at 5.41pm which has meant that 126 customers are without power. We have been informed by the fire service that there has been a grass fire. It may indicate that something has happened to the lines, said Morten Schau, Elvia’s press manager at around 6.15pm on Sunday.

The 110 center East confirms to Smaalenenes Avis that there has been a fire.

– What we were notified about was that there was something wrong with a transformer. When we arrived, the transformer itself was not on fire, but some sparks may have come from it. It therefore burned in dry grass under the mast there. So it has been something or other with the transformer that has triggered this, explains the duty manager at the 110 central east, Kjell Nesset, and says that the Skiptvet fire service has extinguished the fire and is finished on the spot.

The fire must have started at Tveterveien in Skiptvet.

Nesset says that it is entirely possible to have a grass fire, even if the weather is cold.

– In this case, only a few square meters burned, but there are actually possibilities for grass fires now. As long as it has been windy and dry, it dries up on the surface. The brown, old grass is flammable, explains the supervisor.

At 19.40, Elvia’s power outage map shows that there are now only ten customers left who still have not had their power restored.

– It turns out to be a fault on a high-voltage cable, and then it will take time before this is fixed. What we are doing now is that we are rolling out an aggregate as a temporary solution for these customers. I would assume that we have got the unit in place before midnight, says Morten Schau at 19.55.
