John Cena made a memorable appearance at the 96th Academy Awards on Sunday night. The actor, who has made a big name for himself in the wrestling scene, appeared almost completely naked on stage at the gala in Los Angeles.

Cena was given the honorable task of delivering a eulogy for the winner of the Best Costume Design category at the ceremony. Ironically, when he appeared on stage he was only wearing a pair of sandals. He also covered his abdomen with the envelope containing the nominations.

A brief exchange between Kimmel and Cena followed. The latter jokingly criticized the talk show host for “suggesting something so tasteless.” Kimmel then simply referred to Cena’s wrestling career, in which he “also stands naked in the ring.” However, the actor didn’t want to leave it like that. “No, I don’t wrestle naked, I wrestle in jorts,” he corrected.
In the end, Cena had the courage and presented his still toned body in all its glory.

However, the “Fast & Furios” star wasn’t able to read out the nominations because he would have had to completely expose himself. Jimmy Kimmel then took this task off his hands – perhaps to return the favor for the idea on the 40th anniversary of the speedster scandal at the time.
