Ecuador’s Most Dangerous Criminal Escapes from Guayaquil Prison

The Government of Ecuador was shocked to discover that José Adolfo Macías Villamar, also known as Fito, had escaped from the Guayaquil prison. Fito is considered the most dangerous criminal in the country and is the leader of the bloodthirsty criminal gang Los Choneros, which serves as the operational arm of the Mexican Sinaloa cartel.

It took 15 hours for authorities to realize that Fito had escaped, leading to an emergency meeting of the Security Council called by the president. The Guayaquil penitentiary complex, which houses over 12,000 inmates, was subsequently surrounded by a strong police and military contingent as part of a weapons control operation. The search for Fito continues, and the State Prosecutor’s Office has opened an investigation into the escape.

Fito, who is 44 years old, has a long history of criminal activity, with 14 judicial proceedings for crimes including robbery, organized crime, possession of weapons, and murder. This is not the first time he has escaped from prison, having previously fled with 15 other prisoners from the Los Choneros gang in 2013. After the murder of the gang’s previous leader, Fito rose to power and expanded the group’s criminal activities, including drug trafficking, micro-trafficking, extortion, and robberies.

The escape of Fito has caused a major security concern in Ecuador, with authorities working diligently to locate and apprehend the dangerous criminal. The country remains on high alert as the search for Fito and the other escaped prisoners continues.
