Mit Floryan from Künzelsau the acts for the German preliminary round are complete: In the show “I want to go to the ESC! – The Decision” he convinced viewers on Thursday, February 8th with his title “Scars” and was able to collect the most votes. Now the 28-year-old will compete in the show “Eurovision Song Contest – The German Finale 2024” and sing for participation in the international ESC final in Malmö, Sweden – alongside the acts GALANT, Isaak, Leona, Bodine Monet, Max Mutzke, NinetyNine , Marie Reim and Ryk, who were already set beforehand. “Eurovision Song Contest – The German Finale 2024” comes live from Berlin on Friday, February 16th at 10:05 p.m. on Erste, in ONE, the ARD media library and on eurovision.de. The moderator is Barbara Schöneberger.
“My first feeling was: This can’t be true, I still can’t believe it. It was like a film passed me by. Pure adrenaline and happiness, I can hardly describe it! Now I will prepare well for the German final, practice the song well and think of a nice production,” said Floryan after the result was announced by “I want to go to the ESC!” presenter Laura Karasek. Floryan’s coach Rea Garvey was also proud: “I was surprised in a positive way because I thought all three delivered a great performance, but completely different. At first I thought that Conchita had an advantage because she had absolute ESC legend status. But in the end we won! It takes a great song, a great singer and a great performance. Floryan did it! I totally believe in him, a great talent and a real presence!”
Floryan has been a big ESC fan since his youth, when he was able to watch Lena Meyer-Landrut’s victory in Oslo live on TV. He left home for his master’s degree in music management at the Popakademie Mannheim and is currently living in Hamburg for an internship semester. So far he has been musically active in a few cover bands.
Of the 15 acts that originally started at “I want to go to the ESC!”, in addition to the winner, Anne Im (27) from Hamburg and Luca M. Wefes (23) from Berlin from the team Conchita Wurst and Bibiane Z (26) from Berlin – She was unable to appear in the show due to illness and was therefore not up for voting – from the team Rea Garvey qualified for the final show. Star choreographer Nikeata Thomspon, songwriter and social media star Levent Geiger and singer-songwriter KAMRAD were also guests.
The results of all acts from “I want to go to the ESC!” – The Decision” will be published on eurovision.de after February 16th.
