FORD TRUCKS The Transcontinental is back after 50 years: here is the limited edition of the F-MAX with Heritage livery – Companies

Over 50 years later, Ford Trucks relaunches the Transcontinental on Italian roads thanks to the creation of a very limited edition of the F-MAX with Heritage livery.

In the F-MAX Transcontinental the distinctive character and authenticity of the Blue Oval remain, but comfort and performance improve: a perfect mix between the myth of the past and the most modern technology. The ancestor of the F-MAX, when it traveled on European roads, was called “the condominium”, due to its very high cabin on the chassis to make room for the 353 horsepower Cummins 6-cylinder inline engine. The floor was almost flat.

The F-MAX has 500 horsepower, obtained thanks to the powerful Ford Ecotorq 6-cylinder in-line engine. Performance and efficiency are further improved thanks to the introduction of the new transmission produced “in house” by Ford Trucks. The spaciousness of the cabin and comfort remain attributes in common between past and present: the strong point of the F-MAX even today are the 2.5 meters of the passenger compartment, expertly soundproofed, and the details designed to revive the comfort of home during long journeys. 50 years have passed since the first Transcontinental but Ford Trucks’ values and attention to the driver remain the same.

After the interest received from the initial project to put a modern version of the old legend back on the road, Ford Trucks Italia is making available to the public a limited version of the F-MAX characterized by the special livery that pays homage to the colors of its only still functioning ancestor present in Italy, configured in the top of the range Luxury version and characterized by the EHPAS electro-hydraulic steering – the steering wheel with electric power assistance on three levels (Comfort, Balanced and Stable respectively for city, mixed and long interurban journeys) – and by the brand new 16-speed Ecotorq transmission gears which reduces consumption even further compared to the previous 12-speed version.
