Former FBI chief: Venezuela deliberately empties its prisons to send criminals to the US

The FBI is closely monitoring the expansion of the Aragua Train. Former deputy director of the FBI, Chris Swecker, has raised concerns about the wave of crimes in New York City, allegedly carried out by Venezuelan migrants, and the presence of the dangerous criminal gang El Tren de Aragua in the United States. Swecker suggested that the Venezuelan government could be deliberately releasing criminals from its prisons and sending them to the United States. Last year, the Venezuelan government conducted operations in the country’s main prisons to allegedly put an end to criminal gangs operating from prison facilities. However, various NGOs reported discrepancies in the numbers of prisoners relocated. This has raised concerns about a potential deliberate effort by the Venezuelan government to send criminals to the United States. The situation is being closely monitored by the FBI.
