Tesla Model Y 2025: What to Expect in the New Version

After months of speculation and rumors, details of the launch of a new version of the Tesla Model Y, which was one of the company’s greatest sales successes since its debut in 2019, were finally known.

This all-electric compact crossover SUV will have a new model in 2025, and that is why great expectations have been generated due to the changes it will have and the inclusion of new functions, of which certain leaks are known for now.

The story of this launch begins with the first signs of “Project Juniper”, a planned renewal for the Model Y that was originally expected for previous years. However, the latest rumors point to a delay in the schedule, postponing the arrival of this new generation until 2025. Something that changes the company’s plans, which hoped to take it to Asia and Europe first, and then launch it in North America in the second half of 2024.

This change in plans could have occurred due to a deeper review of the design and characteristics of the vehicle, which became the best-selling electric car in the world in 2023, something that would also have motivated the company’s decision to Elon Musk to not cross the two models.

One of the most anticipated modifications is the change in the internal and external design of the car. On the outside, an update inspired by the successful Model 3 Highland is expected, with changes to the front and rear to improve aerodynamics and efficiency. With smaller headlights, a more aerodynamic bumper and a modification to the size of the front area.

As for the interior, the 2025 Tesla Model Y would have a completely renewed driving experience. There is speculation about the elimination of wood finishes on the dashboard and doors, while the inclusion of an LED strip that runs throughout the vehicle’s interior is expected.

The materials used are expected to give the car a more premium look, while maintaining the brand’s signature minimalism. There is also talk of the presence of a 15-inch multi-touch front screen, as well as a second 10-inch screen in the second row of seats.

One of the most striking features of the new Tesla Model Y will be the complete absence of levers. The turn signal and gear shift functions will be performed using haptic buttons and on-screen controls, which will provide a more intuitive driving experience. In addition, an improvement in the damping system and greater comfort for passengers is expected.

Regarding performance and autonomy, there has been talk of this new version maintaining the batteries currently used, but with improvements in aerodynamics and other optimizations to increase the vehicle’s autonomy.

Although possible changes to the batteries have been rumored, it seems that Tesla will choose to keep the current ones to continue keeping costs low and not impact the sales price of the vehicle. However, the increase in vehicle efficiency is expected to offset any lack of progress in this regard.

As for the price, Tesla has not yet announced specific figures, but it is expected to maintain a value similar to that of the current model, following the company’s strategy of offering high-quality vehicles at competitive prices, as happened with the Model 3 Highland. Despite rumors of a possible price increase, leaks suggest that the company will not do so.
