Former West Java Governor Solihin GP Dies, Acting Mayor of Bandung

The man known as Mang Ihin died while being treated at Advent Hospital, Bandung City.

Regarding this sad news, the Acting Mayor of Bandung, Bambang Tirtoyuliono, expressed his deepest condolences.

“On behalf of myself and the Bandung City Government, I express my condolences. Hopefully the deceased will be accepted by Allah SWT,” said Bambang.

Bambang also prayed for strength for the families left behind.

“May the family be given strength and fortitude,” he continued.

Before being buried, it is planned that the deceased will be taken to the large family funeral home on Jalan Cisitu Indah, Bandung City. Residents who wish to express their condolences can also pay their respects at the Kodam III/Siliwangi Headquarters on Sumbawa Street at 09.30-12.30 WIB.

The deceased is planned to be buried at the Cikutra Bandung Heroes’ Cemetery (TMP) at 13.30 WIB

For information, the late Lieutenant General TNI (Ret.) Solihin Gautama Purwanegara was born July 21 1926. He was a former Indonesian National Army officer who served as Governor of West Java from 1970 to 1975.

He began his military career during the revolution as Commander of the Bogor Regency People’s Security Army, then joined the Siliwangi Division.

One of his achievements that stood out was when he overcame the food crisis in Indramayu by popularizing rice called gogo rancah.

He is also known as an elder of West Java and Siliwangi, an environmental fighter and founder of the Sunda Tatar Forestry and Environmental Observer Council (DPKLTS). Mang Ihin also served as General Chair of Persib Bandung. (rob)**
