At Palazzo del Turismo in Riccione (RN), the months of March and April 2024 see the taking place of FUMETTI FUTURI, the first edition of the comics festival “projected towards the future”. According to what was stated in the presentation of the event, “the festival aims to be an opportunity to talk to the public about future projects, newly published comics and show the public a ‘fresher’ side of comics production”. Organized by the “Friends of the Museums of Riccione and Valconca” association (AMUSE) and with the artistic direction of Niccolò Tonelli, illustrator, cartoonist and event organizer, FUMETTI FUTURI is made up of various events which see the participation of numerous guests, such as the collective MOLESTE, Deborah Tommasini and the artists of Rimini and Pesaro-Urbino (9 March), or Chiara Raimondi, Sergio Algozzino and Niccolò Tonelli with the local artists who created the Tarot for The Night of the Witches (16 March), STUDIO FORTISSIMI , Nadia Bordonali and SER (29 March), Luigi Filippelli, Samuele Canestrari, Davide Barzi and Louseen Smith (30 March) and Valerio Barchi and Alessia Barilari, again with the participation of Niccolò Tonelli (31 March). On April 1st, the closing day of the festival will take place with an afternoon of meetings, presentations and workshops with SER and ALTERNOTECA APS and a finishing party.

During the various events it is also possible to visit the exhibition dedicated to Mario Cubbino: “Mario Cubbino – Maestro del Passato”, famous cartoonist who passed away in Rimini in 2007 who, during his long career, boasted numerous collaborations with Enzo Magni (in Ingam art) e Blonde Panther; he also collaborated on the series Born in Santa Cruz and realized Roy Dallas, both published by Edizioni Torelli. Among the other realities with which the artist collaborated we also remember Pecos Billthe publisher Renzo Barbieri, Sergio Bonelli Editore (for whom he designed issue 17 of Murmur), il Boys’ courierthe Universo Publishing House and Astorina for which he worked on the creation of some issues of the series Diabolik.

The exhibition is made up of various tables accompanied by texts by Davide Barzi which guide guests on a journey back in time, populated by many small curiosities regarding Cubbino and his activity as a cartoonist. A small space is also dedicated to some photographs of the time which portray the artist in some of the interesting moments of his career such as, for example, those dedicated to study and documentation up to the actual work in the studio.
