Galatasaray is champion in less than a minute: Fenerbahce put up a U-19 team and withdrew | Other Soccer Leagues

The final of the Turkish Super Cup was preparing for a true derby between the biggest teams in the country, Fenerbahçe and Galatasaray being the ones who were going for the title, but the match ended up being a scandal worldwide because barely a minute was played.

As a symbol of protest against the Turkish Federation for putting a match of this type a few days before playing the Conference League quarterfinals, Fenerbahçe decided to put an Under-19 team and present only 4 substitutes, practically giving away the match.

In previous days it had already been known that Fenerbahçe was not going to use its stars in this match and that they were going to withdraw, but it was not known when it was going to happen.

Once the match began, Galatasaray was forceful on offense, as Argentine striker Mauro Icardi quickly scored a goal and when both teams were ready to serve from the midfield, the Fenerbahçe coach asked his youth players to leave the field.

Galatasaray were surprised and remained in position, but as the players walked towards the dressing room, Mauro Icardi applauded them for setting a good precedent in Turkey.

The referee ended up declaring a 3-0 in favor of Galatasaray due to the abandonment of the rival and they ended up being champion of the Super Cup in an unusual way.
