QUITO – A war between gangs linked to drug trafficking resulted in 68 deaths and 25 injuries. Some victims were beheaded. It happened in the coastal city of Guayaquil in Ecuador, inside the Penitenciaría del Litoral.
It is only the latest violence to hit the notorious penitentiary, already the scene of Ecuador’s worst prison bloodbath less than two months ago: 119 dead.
