Jaguares de Córdoba received Independiente Medellín at the Jaraguay stadium in the game on date 15 of the BetPlay 2024-I League and both teams arrived with need, as the cats seek to escape relegation, but also fight for classification, while the powerful team maintains hope to be in the eight.
In the end, it ended up being an emotional and intense match, in which Medellín came back from 2-0 down and earned a 2-2 draw.
Although Medellín seemed the favorite, the one that imposed its conditions from the first half was Jaguares, who after a tie for almost half an hour, went ahead on the scoreboard through Wilson Morelo.
Those from Montería caught the powerful player in a bad position and in a quick attack, the attacker Morelo managed to do some dribbles to get closer to the goal of Yimy Gómez, who in the end could not contain a strong shot from the scorer.
That minimal advantage was maintained and Jaguares began to get excited about the victory, since they were 45 minutes away from achieving victory, because Medellín could not find a way to dangerously reach the cat’s goal.
However, in the second half there was more action and goals, in which Jaguares increased their lead 2-0 after a well-executed penalty by Wilson Morelo, who scored his double in the 70th minute.
The victory seemed clearer, but a minute after Morelo’s goal, Diego Moreno appeared surprisingly to finish and make it 2-1 which, without a doubt, put Medellín in the game.
From there, Medellín played better and began to insist on a tie, managing to have a penalty in their favor after a handball in the area by Jáder Maza, but Leyser Chaverra’s charge was neither powerful nor located, being easy for goalkeeper Geovanni Banguera.
Medellín tried in those last minutes and did not give up, so in the 90+5 minute Leyser Chaverra appeared to get even and score a goal after an assist from Anderson Plata, in a play that came with a corner kick.
Finally, the match was tied 2-2 and Medellín was saved from defeat. The result leaves the powerful team with 19 points and the hope of qualifying, while Jaguares has 17 points, but the issue of relegation is their headache.
