Addin emphasized that his party only wanted Ustad Syafiq Riza Basalamah not to give lectures and recitations in Surabaya, East Java.
The reason, said Addin, was that Ustad Syafiq Riza Basalamah often insulted the teachings and practices of the Nahdlatul Ulama organization. In addition, according to Addin, the recitation was held in areas where the majority of the practice adheres to the creed of the NU ahlussunnah wal congregation.
“We are firm and do not take a single step back from religious studies that always undermine Indonesia’s national identity, are intolerant, build radical narratives, blaspheme NU’s amaliyah, let alone want to change the state system,” he said.
