Graz bring Danish U21 team player Tochi Chukwuani

SK Sturm has already secured its first reinforcement for the summer: Tochi Chukwuani will come to Graz from the Danish first division club Lyngby after the current season. Chukwuani is the current U21 team player for his country, but on Friday he will not play against Werner Gregoritsch’s Austrian U21 team in Ried, he is injured and is not available.

In any case, Chukwuani was in Graz: the central midfielder, who trained at Nordsjaelland, signed a long-term contract until 2028.

The performance data: Chukwuani, who moved to Lyngby in 2022, made 21 appearances in the Danish Superliga, recording three goals and two assists. At just 20 years old, he can already boast 81 games of experience in professional football. And he is also continuing the “Danish tradition” in Graz. After Rasmus Höjlund, William Böving and currently Mika Biereth, Chukwuani is the fourth Dane to come to Styria in the recent past.

“Tochi Chukwuani is a player we have been keeping an eye on for some time. He is a dynamic and physically strong player who also has qualities on the ball. He can be used universally in midfield and has already been tried and tested internationally with eight appearances for the Danish U21 national team,” said Andreas Schicker. The Graz sports director further explained: “The situation has now developed perfectly to get a player with enormous potential like Tochi on excellent terms – we are happy that we have already been able to secure this transfer for the summer and are proud, that Tochi chose SK Sturm Graz. Tochi already has experience with his games for the strong Danish U21 and as a regular player in the Superliga, but he will also have the time to get used to our style of football.”

And Chukwuani himself doesn’t hide the fact that the “role models” mentioned above were definitely a reason for the change: “In the recent past, a few young Danes were able to attract attention at SK Sturm, so I’m sure that I’ll be in good hands here . Sturm has made a good name for himself internationally in recent years and is known for supporting young players – I am happy to be in Graz from the summer and am convinced that I can take the next step in my career here.”
