“Valencia Fire Department Rescues Man from Cement Factory Chimney”
Officials from the Valencia Fire Department successfully rescued a 68-year-old man, identified as David Jiménez Cunha, after he climbed to the top of a chimney at an old cement factory in the Las Chimeneas Urbanization of the Parroquia San José. The incident took place on the night of Saturday, January 27, and drew a crowd of concerned spectators as the man threatened to jump from the tower.
Upon arrival at the scene, authorities initiated rescue maneuvers while the man began to descend the external staircase of the tower on his own. Once he reached the bottom, officials were able to establish verbal communication with the man, who was reportedly in an intoxicated state, and convince him to desist from his intentions.
