Heptathlon: end of career for Géraldine Ruckstuhl

Géraldine Ruckstuhl (26 years old) has announced the end of her career. The Lucerne resident, a heptathlon specialist, indicated on social networks that she no longer had the necessary motivation.

The athlete explained that his passion for athletics had died down. “I’m someone who gives 100% or quits,” she wrote. ‘In life, you have to do what makes you happy,’ said the Lucerne native, who held the Swiss heptathlon record until 2022 with 6,391 points.

U18 world champion in 2015 and U23 European champion in 2019, Géraldine Ruckstuhl has had difficult recent seasons, with injuries and two Covid infections. She was not selected for the Tokyo Olympics in 2021. She will therefore not see those in Paris this summer either.
