The wrong temperature in the refrigerator increases the risk of bacteria forming on food and food spoilage.

Doctor Bavna Midha, who researched whether people adjust the temperature in the refrigerator correctly, warned about the importance of this problem. If the refrigerator is set to the optimal temperature, food can stay in it for days without developing bacteria. In this way, you know that you are taking safe food for consumption.
However, the results of a study conducted by researchers from RMIT University in Australia showed that most people do not pay attention to the temperature in the refrigerator. The recommended temperature for the refrigerator is from two to seven degrees Celsius, stated Dr. Bavna Midha and pointed out that bacteria settle faster when food is warm. Extremely low temperatures can also cause food to spoil.
“To adjust the temperature of the fridge, simply locate and turn the dial inside the appliance, but be aware that any temperature change will take up to 24 hours to settle. By setting the fridge to the correct temperature range, this will ensure that the food inside stays fresh and bacteria growth is avoided,” said Amanda Lorenzini, refrigerator expert at AO.com.
In households with children, temperatures often changed because the refrigerator was opened up to 20 times a day. When it comes to the freezer, the optimal temperature is -15 to -20 degrees Celsius. This temperature is ideal for storing food and does not use an additional amount of electricity. Every degree above means you are using more electricity.
