In Israel, thousands of people protested against Benjamin Netanyahu

Tens of thousands of Israelis on Saturday they demonstrated in Tel Aviv, Haifa and other Israeli cities, protesting against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and asking about it resignation. Protesters set fires in the street and there were clashes with the police. There were injuries and one protester was arrested.

The protesters were above all asking for an immediate agreement to be reached for the release of the hostages kidnapped by Hamas after the massacre of October 7, which started the ongoing war. Six months have now passed since the beginning of the war and there are still over a hundred Israelis hostage in the Strip. Some are already dead: just on Saturday the Israeli army said it had found in Khan Yunis the body of a man, Elad Katzir, aged 47, kidnapped on 7 October in the Nir Oz kibbutz. «We want the hostages back alive and not in coffins», was one of the slogans chanted during the protests.
