TEHRAN – The Iranian Revolutionary Guard yesterday announced the seizure of two Greek oil tankers in the waters of the Persian Gulf. The Hellenic Foreign Ministry has announced that it is in contact with the Iranian ambassador in Athens regarding this “violent seizure” of two ships flying the Greek flag, an act which it has defined as “piracy”. The presence of nine citizens of Greek origin was confirmed in the crew of the two ships, while the Athens authorities did not provide information on the nationalities of the rest of the crew on board.
