BAGHDAD – At least four people died and 20 were injured in an explosion in Basra, southern Iraq. It would have been a motorcycle bomb. There were no claims.

The dynamics are not yet clear: whether a bomb was placed on the motorcycle or whether it was a suicide attack. The governor said two people were killed and two cars burned in the blast. Attacks in oil-rich and predominantly Shia Basra have been rare in recent years, particularly after the defeat of the militant group of the Islamic State in 2017.
