Speculation about who will play the next James Bond has been running at full speed in recent months. Now, according to rumors, a decision has been made – Aaron Taylor-Johnson will probably be the next 007.

Taylor-Johnson appears to have received an offer

After the end of Daniel Craig’s James Bond era, the rumor mill almost boiled over about who would take on the legendary role. From Tom Holland to Idris Elba to Paul Mescal, some potential candidates were discussed. As “The Sun” now reports, Aaron Taylor-Johnson has now received an offer to play Bond in the next films. The 33-year-old just has to accept.

“The formal offer is on the table and they are waiting for an answer,” an unnamed insider told the newspaper about the films’ production company Eon. He added: “As for Eon, Aaron will sign his contract in the next few days and they can start preparing for the big announcement.” The mime is said to have been the favorite for the role for some time.

Breakthrough as John Lennon

Taylor-Johnson had his breakthrough in 2009 with the film “Nowhere Boy,” in which he played the young John Lennon. In the following years, the Brit was seen in the comic film adaptation “Kick-Ass”, various “Avengers” films and also the thriller “Nocturnal Animals”, for which he received a Golden Globe. This year the actor is in front of the camera for “Kraven The Hunter”. The film opens in cinemas on August 30th.
