He was in Saudi Arabia to participate in a series of shows but died in a tragic car accident along with two other Italians. Thus ended the life of Antonio Caggianelli, a dancer from Bisceglie, 33, also known in our country as a choreographer. Taking advantage of a day free from professional commitments, the artist, together with a dozen people, had gone on a trip to the desert near Ryad. Two of the cars in which they were traveling, for reasons yet to be ascertained, crashed into an escarpment and the dancer, the two compatriots and two other passengers were unable to escape. For them, the help that promptly arrived at the crash site where various helicopters landed was useless.
“The death of our young fellow citizen pains and saddens us deeply – wrote the mayor of Bisceglie, Angelantonio Angarano in a note – At that age you have so many projects, ideas, enthusiasm, you work to build your own future and pursue the their dreams. What Antonio did, with vitality and resourcefulness, making himself appreciated and loved. Having to accept that such a young life can be broken is very bad ».
Angarano also explained that he had taken action through the Prefecture of Barletta-Andria-Trani to contact the Italian Embassy in Saudi Arabia “for the organization of the return operations of the body, which we will wait in the city for the last moving farewell”.
