(LaPresse) An 80-year-old woman was pulled alive from the rubble of her home three days after the violent 7.5 magnitude earthquake that occurred in Japan which caused 92 deaths and at least 242 missing. The “miracle” occurred in the town of Wajima, in Ishikawa prefecture, thanks to the intervention of a rescue dog, which “sniffed” the old woman under the rubble. Rescuers had to crawl through narrow spaces to reach the woman, who was conscious when she was found. The 80-year-old was pulled from the rubble while rescuers encouraged her and told her: “You did great. You’re fine now.” Meanwhile, thousands of Japanese soldiers joined in the effort to reach the most affected points of the Noto peninsula, the center of the earthquake, connected by a narrow strip of land to the rest of the main island of Honshu.
