Japan, two-meter python escaped from a car: panic in the city

Python hunting has started in Japan. A two-meter specimen has escaped from a car after escaping its owner’s control, and is now in a state of freedom, creating panic among residents of Kurashiki, a city in Okayama prefecture, west of the archipelago.

The reptile was temporarily left unattended in a car during a move from home. Like the other snakes of this species, the python has no venom, and this particular specimen would have a fairly docile temperament, local media say; however, the police urged citizens to use caution because there is still a risk of being bitten.

The owner warned law enforcement about the escape Sunday after losing track of the animal, and currently about 10 men armed with sticks are engaged in the search. In Japan, it is not necessary to apply for a permit to own a python.
