JetSmart, headed by Estuardo Ortiz, CEO of the company, announced that domestic flights will begin to operate in Colombia with seven direct routes. The airline, a member of Indigo Parthners, said the transports will begin operating from March 14, but are already on sale.

The company routes go from Bogotá to Medellín, Cartagena, Pereira and Santa Marta. In addition, it will have flights from Medellín to Cartagena and Santa Marta, and between Cartagena and Pereira, with a projection of two million passengers in the first year of operation.

The airline, with its ultra-low-cost model, launched a promotion with air tickets from $30.000 on its seven domestic routes, which will begin operating in March, but which can be purchased from today on its website.

Estuardo Ortiz, CEO of JetSmart, said in the announcement that “we are marking history in Colombia today, with the start of sales of our domestic flights in the country. Our Ultra-‘low cost’ model is proven in the region, which has allowed us to bring more than 25 million people flying Smart at ultra-low prices on new aircraft. We see enormous potential in Colombia, to bring air travel at low rates to all Colombians, as well as connect with international destinations to promote development, tourism and connectivity. The ultra low cost model is back in Colombia.”

In addition, he added that “we have been recognized as the best low cost in South America and number three in customer satisfaction in the region, by Skytrax World Airline Awards, which is a testament that low cost does not mean low quality. Our fleet, of 32 Brand new Airbus from the factory, it is the largest ultra low cost in the region. On the other hand, the CEO of JetSmsrt emphasized that his model is based on low costs such as US$15 flights for domestic flights in Argentina, since, according to Ortiz, more than 25 million people trust the airline in South America. Also, he stressed that they transported more than 8.5 million passengers last year, counting their 47 domestic routes in three countries such as Chile, Peru and Argentina.

The airline, together with American Airlines, signed an alliance that includes the sale of codeshare flights and with this agreement the company will join AAdvantage®, American Airlines’ loyalty program this year. This alliance is part of the Sudamericana airline’s plan to expand its route network to provide more and more travel options to users in the region.

Additionally, JetSmart is part of the airline portfolio of the American investment fund Indigo Partners, along with the airlines Frontier with operations in the United States, WizzAir in Europe, Volaris in Mexico, Lynx in Canada and Cebu Pacific in Asia. American Airlines is a minority shareholder in JetSmart.
