The crisis within the Green Alliance over party officials involved in the tanker scandal of the National Unit for Disaster Risk Management (Ungrd) has reached a new level after the recent resignations of two emblematic figures of the party: Antanas Mockus and Claudia López.

According to the dialogue he had with the Semana journalist, his analysis regarding the resignations has to do with the fact that the Green Party and its alleged involvement in the corruption case has to do with a complex division between those close to the Government of Gustavo Petro and those who have opposed it most vehemently – like the former mayor – and, in effect, have decided to make the decision to resign from the party.

He expressed that everything that is happening in the Alliance is “terrible,” but that the diagnosis is that the movement is “completely fractured, imploded. This, here we cannot tell lies, it is not a secret, we have been like this for a long time (…)”. He highlighted that there are, fundamentally, two groups in the Alliance: the “Petrist” and those who have opposed it.

“It is a mess in which we are all, completely, colliding with this issue of corruption, and looking for ways to find a solution so as not to be able to pay just for sinners.
