Musician Jung Joon-young was released from prison on Tuesday (19/3), after serving a five-year sentence for sex crimes, incl rape serious, recording sexual activity, and distributing it illegally.

Korea Herald reported that Jung Joon-young was secretly released from the Mokpo Prison Center in Jeollanam-do at 05.05 South Korean time.

Jung Joon-young was seen leaving prison in all black, wearing a hat, mask and glasses that covered most of his face. He had time to face the journalists who were present but left without providing any information.

Now, the media is monitoring what Joon-young will do after being released from prison. Previously, he vowed to stop all activities from the world of entertainment when he admitted to the sex crimes he committed.

In November 2019, a court sentenced Joon-young to six years in prison for his role in the Burning Sun Scandal. The harassment was carried out against a woman who was drunk and shared an inappropriate video which was also taken from a woman.

This crime was also carried out by Jung-yoon along with four other suspects, including the former leader of FT Island, Choi Jong-hoon. He was sentenced to five years in prison.

The two artist friends were found guilty of raping a person who was unable to resist due to loss of cognitive ability.

Under the sentence, they will also undergo 80 hours of sexual violence rehabilitation and will face employment restrictions in any organization related to children and young people for five years.

Initially, prosecutors sentenced Jung Joon-young to seven years in prison and Choi Jong-hoon to five years in prison. They also proposed a rehabilitation program and restrictions on work in children and youth organizations for 10 years.

However, these demands were not fulfilled. The court also rejected the prosecutor’s request for supervision of the five defendants.

In the end, Jung Joon-young only served five years in prison in accordance with the appeal court decision which was upheld by the Supreme Court.

The crime case began when Jung Joon-young’s chat group was revealed to the public. In this group, Jung Joon-young and several other members, including Choi Jong-hoon, often share pornographic videos and photos.
