Voices. Not without foundation. I report them for the record. The hottest: Cristiano Giuntoli would have telephoned Thiago Motta not once, but several times recently. In jargon they are called “surveys in case”… In case – precisely – the Juventus decides to change technical guide or Allegri would say goodbye affectionately a year before the deadline. Giuntoli denies it and immediately afterwards gets angry for the sole fact that he intends to avoid any form of internal destabilization: he cannot tolerate being accused of unfairness towards the coach. Record voice and counter-voice, I make it clear that no one forbids a director from informally showing up with an object of desire. Motta has been a passion of Giuntoli’s for some time and it is no coincidence that last summer he was approached by Aurelio De Laurentiis: on that occasion he expressed his heartfelt thanks and remained at Bologna.
And now the lukewarm but not too much: Motta also figures in first place in the list of preferences of Giorgio Furlani, CEO of Milan; list that includes – it is obvious – Antonio Conte.
Ibrahimovic, who has a wonderful relationship with Motta (they shared the experience at Paris St. Germain) tried to publicly strengthen Pioli’s position, committed to winning a Champions League place, as well as in the Euroleague. However, farewell at the end of the season is as concrete a hypothesis as the boredom that assails Pioli in recording outside voices.
But what is Motta’s will? Since yesterday we have owned a portion of it. “Thiago doesn’t yet know his future” explained Dario Canovi, the father of his agent-friend Alessandro, adding that “he wouldn’t go to Naples even if De Laurentiis bought him Zirkzee and Calafiori”. Canovi’s sincerity is highly appreciable, albeit crude, and his approval rating between Posillipo and Vomero has suffered a collapse.
The names of Zirkzee and Calafiori moreover, they occur punctually when the name of is used Motta at Juve and Milan: the two are, with Fergusonthe most eager players of a Bologna team that is playing a high-level championship and showing an extraordinary personality in the game.
Having said this, some steps need to be clarified.
1) What is Bologna’s position? Every week the CEO Claudio Fenucci tries to talk about renewal with Motta, who replies that it is not the time to think about these things, as he is totally focused on the present. He thinks they missed the mark in Casteldebole, since Tudor, Di Francesco, Vanoli and Farioli are under Sartorian observation.
2) And what plans does Allegri have? Everyone and no one: he awaits Juve’s moves, enjoys Scanavino’s appreciation and is in no hurry, he just hopes to know the club’s plans to see if there is the will to continue.
The life of trendy coaches is strange: on 22 December 2021 Motta would have been fired by Spezia if he had lost in Naples. He won and has been doing business ever since.
