South Africa files lawsuit against Israel for alleged “genocide” in Gaza

On January 11, the United Nations International Court of Justice held a hearing on South Africa’s lawsuit against Israel for committing “genocide” in the Gaza Strip. The hearing, which took place at the International Court of Justice in The Hague, Netherlands, saw lawyers representing the South African government present their case, citing evidence such as statements made by Israeli officials.
The lawsuit stems from a belief held by the South African government that Israel has committed acts of “genocide” in the Gaza Strip.
