League confirms that João Basso is an Estoril player: «I’m very happy to be back» – Estoril

Good news for Vasco Seabra: João Basso is registered and could make his debut in the next round, when Estoril visits Boavista, on Saturday night. The problem that postponed the central defender’s debut and canceled the sale of Bernardo Vital to Hellas Verona has now been resolved. Therefore, if the latter does not leave in the next few days, the coach will have 7 central defenders until the end of the season: Basso, Vital, Mangala, Pedro Álvaro, Volnei, Frederik Winther and Raúl Parra, although he was hired as a full-back. right. “I’m very happy to return to the house that opened the doors to European football for me. I hope I can repay all the affection I’ve received since my arrival and that we can write a beautiful and victorious story together”, said the central defender.

The issue of Basso’s registration has been at a standstill since the last day of the winter market, when a problem was detected. The League accepted the application, but FIFA later revealed that Santos already had 7 players on loan – the maximum allowed – and, therefore, the 27-year-old central defender could not be transferred to Estoril.

However, to resolve this situation, Santos brought Bruno Marques, who was at Marítimo, back to the club and, canceling that loan, made Basso’s transfer to the Canary Islands viable as he became the seventh loanee.

The League then waited for the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) to confirm the legality of the situation, something that has now happened with the Brazilians confirming that Santos only has 7 players on loan and sending the central defender’s international certificate.

The Brazilian has been training with the Estoril squad since last week and can now return to playing for the Canarinhos, once again wearing the first shirt he wore in Portugal, in 2016/17.

The Brazilian, born in Curitiba, spent that season at Amoreira, the following season he was loaned to Real SC and returned in 18/19. However, this season he only played practically for the under-23s and ended up leaving Estoril, heading to Arouca.

He was an important part of the Wolves team that rose from the Portuguese Championship to the 1st League and became captain. After 4 seasons he was bought by Santos, where he played in 2023. With the fish’s descent to Serie B in Brazil, he now returns to Portugal and the first club he represented in Europe.

Bernardo Vital could still leave
However, the resolution of João Basso’s case could lead SAD to sell Bernardo Vital’s pass. The central defender was close to signing for Hellas Verona but when the impasse over the Brazilian’s transfer emerged, the deal with the Italians fell through.

The departure of the 23-year-old defender, trained at Estoril, could be postponed until the end of the season, SAD knowing that Hellas Verona likes the player, or it could happen this week as there are Turkish clubs interested and the winter market in Turkey is only closes next Friday, the 9th.

According to what we found out, SAD is in no hurry in this case as it is in a good situation in financial terms, due to the sale of Koba Koindredi to Sporting and also because it already has an agreement for the sale of João Marques to Sp. Braga, at the end of the season. Therefore, he can keep Vital and transfer the central defender only at the end of the season.
