Two individual competitions are scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, and on Saturday evening there will also be a super team competition with two athletes per nation and three evaluation rounds.

A year ago, the World Cup returned to the 1980 Olympic facility for the first time since 1990 – back then, thousands of spectators created an impressive atmosphere. Andreas Wellinger was able to celebrate his first World Cup victory in almost five years and is also one of the top favorites this weekend.

“I had a very nice experience in Lake Placid last year: my first World Cup victory after a very long break. It has a very nice backdrop there and it’s a very cool ski jump,” said the Ruhpoldinger, who already secured a German home win in Willingen last Sunday.

In addition to the 28-year-old, national coach Stefan Horngacher has nominated his entire senior team for the trip to the USA: Karl Geiger, Stephan Leyhe, Pius Paschke, Philipp Raimund and Felix Hoffmann are also at the start in Lake Placid.

Lovro Kos from Slovenia was particularly convincing in the qualification on Friday, securing victory over the two Austrians Michael Hayböck and Daniel Huber with 126 meters and a lead of 5.1 points. Wellinger took fifth place as the best DSV ski jumper.

After the individual jumping, the second competition is on the program on Saturday: In the evening (11 p.m. CET) the super team competition with two athletes per nation will take place.
