For the 24th round of the Italian Championship, Roma hosted Inter Milan, leader of the national competition, at the Olympic Stadium in Rome. Despite having taken the lead, Inter Milan allowed Roma to come back and, in the second half, secured the advantage on the scoreboard again to win 4-2. The highlight was French striker Marcus Thuram.

The game seemed quite balanced from the first minutes, but the teams took a while to create a real scoring opportunity in the Italian capital. Inter managed to arrive with danger at times, but Roma also threatened.

Until the 16th minute, Dimarco took a corner from the right, Lukaku cleared it wrongly and the ball fell directly onto Acerbi’s head, who sent it into the corner and gave Rui Patrício no chance: Inter Milan 1-0.

Roma’s equalizer came in the 27th minute. From a free kick on the right, the ball was raised in the area and Gianluca Mancini appeared to head it. The defender sent it into the left corner of goalkeeper Sommer, who jumped, but didn’t reach it: 1-1.

With the score tied, the teams still created other opportunities, but the score did not change during the first stage of the match. In a game that saw goals scored by two defenders, the attackers weren’t making the difference.

But in the 44th minute, Pellegrini made a quick move through the middle and passed to El Shaarawy on the left. The Italian striker invaded the area and hit. The ball hit the right post, the left post and went in: Rome 2-1 and the final score in the first half.

Upon returning to the second stage, the teams returned unchanged, but the game’s outlook changed little. Inter Milan, however, soon decided to turn the score around and regain their advantage.

Just five minutes into the second half, Darmian was launched from the right, advanced and crossed low into the area. Marcus Thuram appeared in front of the defenders and scored a goal, scoring a draw for Inter Milan: 2-2.

It didn’t take long and, at 11 minutes, the turning point came. In a new move from the left, the ball was crossed into the area to Thuram, who shared it with Angeliño and the ball went in. The last touch was from the Roma player, an own goal from Angeliño: Inter 3 to 2.

The two teams still created other scoring opportunities, but the net only shook again in stoppage time. Defender Bastoni scored and defined the final score: Inter Milan 4-2.

With the victory, Inter Milan reached 60 points and remains isolated at the top of the Italian Championship. The advantage is now seven points for Juventus, who are in second place in the competition and still enter the field in the round.
