The membership figures for 2023 show that LO continues to grow and it is particularly pleasant to read that the increase is greatest among students and young people.

The figures for 2023 show a total membership of 1,007,451 members at the turn of the year, where fully paying members make up 645,319. That is an increase of 1.5 per cent from the same time last year!

Full paying can be seen as a minimum level for working members in LO. Compared to employment, LO’s degree of organization is 23.5 per cent. LO’s membership then appears to be keeping pace with developments in employment and is growing most among students and young people.

– These are pleasing figures that show that our investments are bearing fruit in the long run. But we cannot rest on our laurels even if we stabilize above one million members. Our degree of organization is now 23.5 per cent, which is lower than we would like. This means that we must continue to work hard to get more people into the LO family, says Terje Olsson.

Students make up 27,246 members, while members under the age of 35 make up 244,940. Students increased by a whopping 1,537 members during 2023, i.e. an increase of 5.2 per cent. Young members increased last year by 10,453 members or around 4.5 per cent increase.
