French President Macron expresses interest in participating in construction of third line of Santo Domingo metro
Santo Domingo.- The president of France, Emmanuel Macron, has expressed interest in participating with resources in the construction of a third line of the Santo Domingo metro. Macron raised this with his counterpart from the Dominican Republic, Luis Abinader, in a letter sent on December 31.
In addition to the metro project, Macron also welcomed Dominican diplomatic efforts in support of a United Nations Security Council resolution for the deployment of a multinational mission in Haiti aimed at supporting that country’s National Police to combat armed gangs.
The letter from the French president also celebrated the trust placed by the Dominican Government in French companies for the development of important projects such as the metro lines in Santo Domingo. Macron expressed France’s desire to participate in the construction of a third metro line in the Dominican capital, with the possibility of an intergovernmental agreement and a financing offer.
The Dominican Government, in a statement released on Tuesday, described Macron’s letter as a sign of France’s interest in strengthening ties with the Dominican Republic and supporting development and infrastructure initiatives, especially in areas such as transportation and urban mobility.
The statement also noted that Macron announced that at the beginning of 2024, a member of his Government will visit the Dominican Republic to strengthen bilateral cooperation and advance the aforementioned projects.
The presidency’s Press Directorate highlighted the value the Dominican Government places on France’s approach, which will undoubtedly strengthen the relationship between both nations.
