María Corina Machado affirmed that she fights for a profound change in Venezuela: “We are going to leave socialism behind”

The opposition leader and anti-Chavista presidential candidate, María Corina Machado, is continuing her fight for profound change in Venezuela ahead of the upcoming elections. She has promised that the country will “leave socialism behind forever.”

In a video message, Machado expressed confidence that Venezuelans will choose a profound change and leave socialism behind in the upcoming elections. She urged her supporters to recognize the importance of their votes in defining the future of the country.

Meanwhile, the Democratic Unitary Platform (PUD) has called on Venezuelan opponents to organize “comanditos” of campaigns in towns, urbanizations, and neighborhoods throughout the country to support Machado and not give way to the advances of the dictatorship.

Machado also demanded the release of all political prisoners unjustly imprisoned by the regime. In response to the expulsion of UN employees in Caracas and recurring complaints of arbitrary detentions and torture, the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, Michelle Bachelet, along with former foreign ministers, ambassadors, and academics, called for the greatest efforts to ensure that the dictatorial trend in Venezuela is not consolidated.

These statements come in the wake of the disappearance of former military man exiled in Chile, Ronald Ojeda Moreno, who was allegedly kidnapped by undercover agents of the General Directorate of Military Counterintelligence (DGCIM) and returned to Caracas, accused of being a traitor to the country.

The fight for change in Venezuela continues as María Corina Machado and her supporters rally for a free and fair election and the end of socialism in the country.
