Campaign to prevent false phone scams with chocolates in honor of Valentineās Day[02/14 19:30]
Today, February 14th, is Valentineās Day. At the Astronomical Museum in Kagoshima City, they sent out flyers with chocolates to help prevent people from falling victim to false phone scams.
Approximately 30 people participated in the campaign, including police officers from Kagoshima Chuo Police Station and students from Kagoshima Womenās Junior College. On the 14th, in honor of Valentineās Day, flyers with chocolates were distributed.
According to the prefectural police, there were 128 cases of false phone scams confirmed in the prefecture last year. The amount of damage was 75 million yen a year ago, but last year it was six times that amount, about 450 million yen, the worst in the past 10 years.

Prefectural police suspect any story involving money to be a scam, and urge people to consult their families or the police.
