97th World Cup victory and 60th in slalom: Shiffrin is aiming for the ominous 100 mark next season. If she stays relatively injury-free, she’ll get through this. Shiffrin is not only the best skier today, but also of all time. On Saturday, the 29-year-old was in second place after the first run before benefiting from the mistakes of half-time leader Anna Swenn-Larsson in the final.
In the end, Shiffrin won the Saalbach slalom ahead of Mina Fürst-Holtmann (Norway) and Swenn Larsson (Sweden). The Italian Martina Peterlini was also able to show off with 9th place. For the Trentino native it is only the second top ten place in her career. The World Cup finals in Salzburger Land continue on Sunday with a men’s slalom and the women’s giant slalom.
