During the first hearing of the Milanese trial against him onmurder of girlfriend Giulia Tramontanofor a few moments, Alessandro Impagnatiello, sitting inside the cage he cried. Tears were visible on his face. The trial, in which the father and other relatives of the murdered young woman were present, began with most of the reporters and the public remaining outside the courtroom. Although it was known that the hearing would be well attended, there was organizational chaos. And the trial was moved to the Court of Assizes of Appeal due to the excessive presence of reporters and onlookers.

The family is asking for a life sentence The family of the 29-year-old 7-month pregnant woman killed on May 27 in Senago, in the Milan area, calls for him to be sentenced to life in prison. The lawyer Giovanni Cacciapuoti: “For him the sentence he deserves”.

Alessandro Impagniatiello does not respond to journalists The 31-year-old former barman did not answer questions from reporters who asked him if he had repented while he was accompanied by prison police officers into the cage of the Court of Assizes of Milan. He showed up with an unkempt beard, jeans and sneakers and a blue jacket. He remained silent but he moved his legs and feet nervously while keeping his gaze downwards. He wiped the tears from his face with a white handkerchief.

The Municipality of Senago requests to be a civil party Before entering the courtroom, the lawyer and former prosecutor Antonio Ingroia, who represents the Municipality of Senago, also spoke to the journalists, asking to be a civil party. “It is an important and courageous choice made by the Municipality – said Ingroia – the citizens of Senago know which side they are on, we want to encourage all the Municipalities in Italy to demonstrate that they are on the right side”. It is evident, added the former Sicilian prosecutor, the “lucid and ruthless premeditation is an example of brutality”. As with mafia conduct, he continued, “there was a pre-establishment of impunity on his part”. And finally: “I don’t think there are traces or clues to a defect of mind, there was clarity in the criminal intent.”
