Moto2 Portugal 2024 – Honda Team Asia Manager Sees Potential, Don’t Look First at Mario Aji’s Position

HONDA TEAM ASIA

Honda Team Asia racer, Mario Suryo Aji, appearing on the second day of Moto2 Portugal at the Algarve Circuit, Portimao, Portugal, March 23 2024.

BOLASPORT.COM – The second Moto2 Portugal 2024 racing series is still a learning process for Indonesian racer, Mario Suryo Aji, in the new race category.

Mario Aji’s debut in the Moto2 class did not go smoothly due to illness which prevented him from completing the full pre-season test.

In the inaugural Qatar GP race, the Honda Team Asia racer had to settle for finishing in 24th position.

Even so, he has been able to outperform several of his rivals, including other debutants from the Moto3 class, including the world champion, Jaume Masia (Pertamina Mandalika GAS UP).

Mario made gradual improvements throughout the Moto2 Portugal 2024 series at the Algarve Circuit, Portimao, Portugal.

Unfortunately, in the Portuguese Moto2 qualification which was held on Saturday (23/3/2024), the 20 year old rider was unable to repeat his best lap time.

Mario was in the last position with a time of 1 minute 44.068 seconds.

In fact, in the last free practice, Mario was able to record a time of 1 minute 43.554 seconds, which would at least make him climb two steps.

Honda Team Asia Manager, Hiroshi Aoyama, then appreciated the improvements that the racer from Magetan was able to show.
