NEW YORK (Dagbladet): A man was killed on Monday evening when he was pushed by another man from the platform of a subway station at 125th Street and Lexington Avenue in Manhattan and in front of an arriving train.

The police informs New York Times that they have arrested the suspected perpetrator, and that the attack appears to be completely unprovoked.

The incident occurred at 18:48 local time. According to the police, the man was pushed just before a train arrived at the platform. The train thus had no chance to stop.

So far, the police have not released the name of either the person killed or the person arrested.

The episode is currently the latest in several violent episodes around the subway system in New York. Earlier this month, the governor of the state, Kathy Hochul, announced that she is sending in the National Guard and state police to improve security on the subway.

But barely two weeks had passed from Hochul’s announcement until a fight on a subway train ended in a shooting.

Earlier this month, a woman (29) also had to have both legs amputated after her boyfriend allegedly pushed her off a platform, reports NBC News.
