Newly promoted Le Havre prevents PSG championship celebration

Paris – Newly promoted Le Havre prevented Paris Saint-Germain from having their hoped-for title party in their Prinzenparkstadion as a warm-up for the Champions League game against Borussia Dortmund. The star ensemble around substitute ex-world champion Kylian Mbappé couldn’t get past a 3-3 draw against the guests, who were threatened with relegation. At least PSG avoided their first defeat in Ligue 1 since September 15th last year with an injury-time equalizer.

But a win would have secured the early coronation – and the perfect mood for the first leg in the semi-finals of the European championship next Wednesday at BVB. However, second-placed AS Monaco now has to step up their game today, otherwise PSG will win their twelfth championship title this weekend. The team from the capital leads the table with twelve points after the draw.

Bradley Barcola equalized the visitors’ lead through Christopher Operi (19′) ten minutes later. André Ayew (37th) put Le Havre in front again. After the break, Abdoulaye Touré increased the score (60′). Achraf Hakimi (77th) and Gonçalo Ramos in the fourth minute of stoppage time saved PSG from an embarrassing defeat.
