The former Friulian defender spoke about himself in an interview with Fatto Quotidiano where he spoke about his way of being a footballer/scholar
The former Juventus player Adam Masina gave a long interview to Il Fatto Daily in which he talked about his passions beyond football, in particular philosophy: “The idea that anyone who plays football is a big inert baby, a log of wood with a modest vocabulary and crude life plans is a primitive idea of those who populate this world. In Udine I often found myself with some teammates, in particular Daniele Padelli and Marco Silvestri, with whom we tackled challenging issues. The state of economy, the problems of the spread, the value of integration”.
Moving on to the profession of a footballer, he explained: “It’s tiring, sometimes it’s a considerable burden. You experience the joys when the path is successful, the judgments on your qualities are positive and your career always extends towards new goals and objectives. Injuries and even repeated substitutions represent gaps for a footballer, they are the fear that each of us experiences and sometimes for the most fragile even the nightmare of not finding hope, of not knowing how to regain the front line. The fan doesn’t see the person inside the shirt. They are not bodies, lives, personalities: just adversaries to be incinerated with shouts and even scurrilous gestures. The line of defense of the dignity of others does not exist in the stands, but we are aware that this incontinence is defined by roles and limited to stadiums.”
Finally Masina concluded on his dual nationality (Italy and Morocco): “I want to be part of the Moroccan national team for as long as I’m allowed to. I also lived in England, four years at Watford. It’s an experience that I recommend to everyone: I learned there English, Spanish, other training techniques, other ways of being on the pitch.”
