It is NHO Nordland with regional director Hans Christian Hansson who, in a press release on Friday, speaks about the many leaks related to the transport project in Nordland from the National Transport Plan in the last week.

Hansson states that he is happy about the signals that are coming, but says that he has clear expectations for the final plan.

– The national transport plan is extremely important, and especially for a transport-intensive northern Norwegian business community. We have many good and important projects in the north which both provide value for money in terms of job and value creation, while at the same time the projects strengthen Norwegian and joint Nordic preparedness. We interpret the signals as giving Nordland a high priority, and we are very happy about that. There is hardly any issue that is more important to our 2,000 member companies from Andøy in the north to Bindal in the south than transport.

Among the projects that have been leaked in the last week are three new crossing tracks on Ofotbanen, partially new E10 in Lofoten (Nappstraumen-Å), E6 tunnel through Ulsvågskaret in Hamarøy, E6 Sørelva-Borkamo, new airport crossing at Evenes and a “continuous development” of the E6 project through Sørfold.

Hansson points out that even if a project is included in NTP, it does not mean that it will be built right away.

– It will be very exciting to see when the various projects are planned to be realised. Whether it will be in the first six-year period of the new national transport plan or in the second six-year period. Things that were planned far into the future are now quite airy projects, says Hansson and continues:

– This is also only a plan. It is not until the money is on the table in the form of a parliamentary decision that we start baking marzipan cake. Now all good forces must work together to ensure that the financing of the important transport projects in Nordland and Northern Norway is in place, concludes Hansson.
