① Be sure to stock up on water and food in case of an emergency, and prepare emergency items to take with you. For stockpiling, please make use of “rolling stock,” where you only buy more as you use it.
② Secure the furniture. In the unlikely event that something falls down, you can rest assured by arranging it so that it does not block the path. Also, be sure to take thorough safety measures in your home on a daily basis, such as applying shatterproof film to glass.
③ Discuss in advance at home the means of communication and meeting place in the event of an earthquake.
④ Make sure that there are no dangerous places or objects on the roads you usually take. In addition, landslides may occur in areas where the ground is weak or where the ground has become loose due to an earthquake due to rain. Please check your surroundings in advance.

If a big earthquake occurs

Even when an earthquake early warning is announced or you suddenly feel shaking, be sure to know what actions to take so that you can take appropriate action without panic. Examples of actions to ensure safety are as follows.

① At home, protect your head and evacuate to a safe place such as under a sturdy desk. Please do not rush outside or try to force the fire out. It is also important to open the door and secure an evacuation route.
② In the elevator, stop at the nearest floor and get off immediately.
③ Be careful of collapsing block walls in the city. Also, be careful of falling signs and broken glass. If you are near a sturdy building, evacuate inside the building.
④ Do not rush to reduce your speed while driving. Don’t apply sudden brakes, slow down slowly. Turn on your hazard lights to alert surrounding cars. If you feel a strong shaking, please stop on the left side of the road.
⑤ Be careful of falling rocks and landslides near mountains and cliffs.
