Major fire in Sieghartskirchen Fire at sausage and ham producers

A large fire brigade was deployed in Sieghartskirchen today to fight a devastating fire at a meat and ham producer. The fire broke out in a production hall, the cause of which is currently unknown. Despite immediate attempts to extinguish the fire with fire extinguishers, the fire could not be contained. When the Sieghartskirchen fire department arrived at the scene, thick clouds of smoke were already coming from the roof area of the hall. The situation was extremely critical because parts of the ceiling had already begun to collapse when the first respiratory protection teams wanted to advance. Due to the worsening situation, the highest alarm level, fire alarm level 4, was triggered, which resulted in a large number of rescue workers.

To deal with the fire, in addition to numerous fire brigade units, two turntable ladders and pressure aerators were also requested to ventilate the halls. Despite the enormous challenges, the emergency services managed to contain the fire. Fortunately, the damage was limited to one hall, but fighting the fire in the false ceiling was extremely difficult. Firefighting crews had to use heavy breathing apparatus to bring the fire under control. After an hour and a half there was finally some initial success, but the extinguishing work continued until late in the evening.

It is a relief that no one was injured in this fire. Nevertheless, the operation was extremely demanding and required the coordination of a total of 18 fire departments with 245 women and men. 22 respiratory protection teams were deployed to bring the fire under control and prevent it from spreading further. The exact amount of damage and the cause of the fire are now being determined by the responsible authorities.
