Jakarta (ANTARA) – The IKN Authority (OIKN) revealed that Malaysian entrepreneurs plan to invest in the archipelago, East Kalimantan to strengthen the residential and education sectors.

“Malaysia is a foreign country that has achieved significant progress in the capital city of the archipelago. The Malaysian Ambassador was the first to visit the diplomatic compound location. “Apart from that, in the Government and Business Entity Cooperation (KPBU) scheme, IJM Corporation Berhad and Maxim Global Berhad are the leading foreign initiator candidates for the residential sector,” said OIKN Deputy for Funding and Investment Agung Wicaksono in Jakarta, Saturday.

Agung also hopes that Limkokwing University from Malaysia can immediately join and start groundbreaking in the capital city of the archipelago.

Malaysian Ambassador to Indonesia Dato’ Syed Md Hasrin Tengku Hussin together with a delegation of potential investors from Malaysia, IJM Corporation Berhad, Maxim Global Berhad, and Limkokwing University of Creative Technology visited IKN.

During the visit initiated by the Ministry of Investment of the Republic of Indonesia, Ambassador Hasrin and his entourage, accompanied by the Deputy for Funding and Investment at the IKN Authority, Agung Wicaksono, conducted a field survey of various potential locations designated for the business activities of Malaysian investors.

IJM and Maxim, two foreign companies from Malaysia which are currently in the process as potential initiators in the Government and Business Entity Cooperation (KPBU) scheme in the residential sector. Both companies have reached the finalization stage feasibility studyplacing them as a foreign company with leading progress in the PPP scheme.

On the other hand, Limkokwing University plans to invest in the higher education sector, to support the education ecosystem in the archipelago.

The Malaysian Ambassador to Indonesia, Dato’ Syed Md Hasrin Tengku Hussin said that the development of IKN is progressing quickly in accordance with the instructions of President Joko Widodo to be able to hold the Independence Day celebration of the Republic of Indonesia in August, where thousands of guests will be invited to directly see the progress of IKN. .

He also expressed his hope that other Malaysian companies, especially those from Sabah and Sarawak, would take advantage of investment opportunities in IKN and share experiences.

This step is expected to contribute to strengthening relations between the two countries, especially considering their closeness as neighboring countries.

Apart from visiting potential locations for investment, the delegation of the Malaysian Ambassador to Indonesia also visited areas designated as diplomatic compoundwhich will be used as a location for the Embassies of various foreign countries in the capital of the archipelago.
