It’s really crowded in the Hamburg exhibition halls for two days: the OMR festival attracts up to 70,000 visitors from all over the world with many star guests.
OMR stands for Online Marketing Rockstars. And OMR is a Hamburg company that advises other companies on online, software and podcast issues. She has been organizing the festival since 2011. Around 500 companies will present their digital offerings over two days. The NDR and ARD are also there.

Kardashian brings celebrity glitz
Reality TV star and entrepreneur Kim Kardashian from the USA brought celebrity glamor with her quick visit to the Hamburg exhibition halls on Tuesday. This appearance was perfect for her so that she didn’t have to go to the after-show parties of the Met Gala on Monday in New York, said the 43-year-old on the big OMR stage in the afternoon. “It’s not really my thing. And so it was the perfect excuse to come here.” She went straight from the fashion event to the plane and then slept on the plane, she said in a 45-minute interview.
“Free Palestine”: Interview interrupted after heckling
Kardashian said it wasn’t her first time in Germany. But she no longer knows whether she has ever been to Hamburg, she said with a smile. Kardashian spoke a lot about her company. Topics also included her Instagram activities and how the family uses smartphones and tablets. Kardashian is an influencer with an enormous reach. The mother of four has around 363 million followers on Instagram alone. The interview was interrupted by a heckler. A woman wearing a headscarf repeatedly shouted “Free Palestine” for about a minute and was eventually escorted out of the hall by several security guards.
Habeck uses his appearance for a keynote speech
One of the first lectures came on Tuesday from Federal Economics Minister Robert Habeck (Greens). In a passionate and unscripted speech, he called on everyone to stand up for democracy. “Populists, radicals, right-wing extremists want to question – perhaps destroy – the core, the community that our country has become over the past 70 years,” said the Green politician. Democracy is therefore under greater pressure than ever before.

In addition, Ski Aggu and Otto Waalkes surprisingly appeared together. Tokio Hotel and Shirin David were other music acts on the OMR program.
Koons, Lindner and Schweinsteiger are also there
On Wednesday, among others, the artist Jeff Koons and the music producer Rick Rubin are expected at the OMR. Rubin has worked with Adele, Tom Petty and the Red Hot Chilli Peppers, among others. A presentation by Federal Finance Minister Christian Lindner (FDP) is also expected. Ex-football professional Bastian Schweinsteiger talks about the upcoming European Championships and his role as an ARD expert as well as the NDR formats “We world champions. Looking for 2014” and “We are world champions. Adventure Football World Cup 2014″ (documentary series, from May 22nd in the ARD media library).
Full hotels, expensive tickets
A total of around 900 stars, influencers and industry celebrities will be on the stages and masterclass podiums on the two days of the trade fair to explain which strategies they used to become successful. The trade fair with hundreds of exhibitors is also intended to help company decision-makers make new business contacts. The Hamburg hotels are full and the ticket prices for the festival are high: they are between 500 and 900 euros. Karolinenstrasse is closed and there are traffic restrictions for 4,000 residents.
